On Love
by Taylor Koontz

I’ve never consumed love
It’s been put on my tongue
And spit out shortly after
Digested, then purged

I’ve been ravenous, eager
Nothing satisfies the feeling
Of wanting a love so decadent
I’d willingly swallow it whole

A love that runs through the veins, warm
An arterial pulse expanding
As I say their name
Contracting, quickly, when they say mine

Pulled by their tidal force
Enthralled by their gravity
I’d have them engulf me
Swallow their waves and drown in nothing else mattering

Two full souls creating one
Cinematic destiny
A connected love drawn together
Before I even see the dots
